This is a PDF pattern that you will download and print yourself. It is recommended that you download the PDF files onto a desktop rather than a phone. Remember to set your printer to scale print and print at 100%.
This pattern includes full sized pattern pieces and complete instructions to make a 18” x 36” horizontal layout castle panel.
Plus, also included are variation instructions to make a 36” x 18” vertical layout castle panel.
Either completed panel is suitable for a wall hanging or could be the awesome focus block of your next quilt top.
And of course, it would look fantastic done in whatever colours your castle-lover fancies!
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
We recommend you use pre-washed 100% cotton, quilting-weight fabrics.
For the horizontal/landscape layout, height 18 inches, width 36 inches (46 cm x 91.5 cm):
• Background sky: 9 inches x 38 inches
• Background hedge/wall: 3 ½ inches x 38 inches
• Background lawn: 8 inches x 38 inches
For the vertical/portrait layout, height 36 inches, width 18 inches (91.5 cm x 46cm):
• Background sky: 20 inches x 22 inches
• Background hedge/wall: 3 ½ inches x 20 inches
• Background lawn: 13 inches x 20 inches
For both layouts:
• Castle towers and battlements: 20 inches x width of fabric on bolt
• Roof, door, windows and path: pieces about 8 inches square
• Trees, bushes, flags and poles: scraps
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Paper backed fusible webbing approx. 20 inches x 1 yard (50 cm x 1 metre)
• Tear-away stabiliser (optional) 18 inches x 36 inches (46 cm x 91.5 cm)
• Threads to match your fabrics
• Small, sharp, pointed scissors
• Iron, sewing machine, general sewing requirements
• Teflon pressing or applique sheet
